Pleat artists

I started thinking that pleating was going to be the way forward so i had a look into other masters of the technique

Bryant Yee

On first glance this piece looked really simple but on further inspection I noticed how much of a sense of depth the shadows in the zig-zagging folds give. And I like how its kind of symmetrical but the zig-zags set it off kilter, a bit like a magic eye puzzle or something.

Joan Michaels

I find that this piece is very similar to but at the same time quite different from the one above. It has the same almost dizzying effect but whereas with Bryant Yee's I noticed the symmetry first then the disorder second, with this one I saw chaos first before I noticed the repeated patterns. I have no idea if this was a planned piece or a happy accident but either way I think its great.

Matt Shlian

This guy is an absolute genius. I have only posted these two pieces because I am trying to focus on pleating but they are just the tip of the ice-berg. Although I can kind of see how he made the piece in the latter picture, the former i think is just stunning. I can't even contemplate where to start making that. Absolutely awe-inspiring.
